Ensure water disintegrates then dispose of. Add ml MM HOSTS to residual arrangement and shake. Once more, expel the fluid layer on base and dispose of. Add ml of water to arrangement and shake. Natural layer on base, move base layer to clean ml vial. Include immersed watery sodium bicarbonate a little at once while mixing. Shake and permit layers to isolate. Move lower alkyl halide layer in ml cone shaped vial utilizing pipette. Dry arrangement over anhydrous sodium sulfate. Distil dry arrangement utilizing Hickman still. At the point when refining total, gauge the vial and compute percent yield. Decide the infrared range of item utilizing salt plate. Day 1: First I gauged an unfilled ml jar with cover = 15. Egg. At that point I included the n-butyl liquor into the cup and gauged that weight = 17. Egg. I can take away the two qualities to decide the specific load of n-butyl liquor included 17. Egg-15. Egg = 1. Egg n-butyl liquor. I at that point included 2. Ml of water and around 2. Egg of sodium bromide to the flagon and put it in an ice shower. I gradually included sulfuric corrosive drop by drop to the arrangement. At that point I expelled the carafe from the ice shower and set it in the gathered reflux device and started the warming procedure for 60 min. After the warming procedure was finished, I saw that the natural layer of the blend turned brilliant red. I extricated the natural layer by expelling and disposing of the watery base layer utilizing a pipette. To ensure I had no natural arrangement in the fluid concentrate, I included a drop of water and it broke down demonstrating that my watery concentrate was simply watery. I put the rest of the arrangement in a spotless ml vial and put it in the cooler. Day 2: After freezing the arrangement short-term, the natural layer turned a copper/earthy colored shading. I added ml of HOSTS to the vial and the two layers shaped with the natural layer on top. Evacuated and disposed of the fluid arrangement utilizing a pipette. I at that point included ml of H2O and two layers framed with the natural layer on the base. Utilizing a pipette I moved the base layer too clean ml vial. At that point included ml of sodium bicarbonate a little at once, shaking and venting every now and again. After the layers isolated I moved the lower alkyl halide layer to dry ml vial and dried this arrangement with granular anhydrous sodium sulfate. Id not have enough alkyl halide layer left to distil, so I gauged it and afterward played out the IR range with it. System of Product Synthesis: Results: As recently expressed, I needed more consummation item to play out the refining so this is the mass of my item without refining included. Mass of conclusive item: Mass of item + vial = 21. Egg Mass of vial just = 20. Egg Mass of item, alkyl layer = 21. Egg-20. Egg The presence of my item was clear Percent Yield = real/hypothetical x 100 Conclusion: = 0. Egg During this investigation, there were numerous odds for botches. With each extraction of one layer from another, item could have handily been abandoned and disposed of in the watery arrangement. The inverse could have happened as well. A portion of the fluid arrangement could have wound up in the completion item, which would have forestalled precision in the loads. Both of these mistakes could clarify why my percent yield is so low. Each time you move the item into another holder you hazard losing some of it behind all the while. In fact, the distress, pain, and victimization that targets experience impacts almost every aspect of their lives leaving them feeling lonely, isolated, depressed and anxious. Whatâs more, the effects of workplace bullying not only linger long after the victim has moved on but also can reappear later in the form of various anxiety disorders. Are You Being Bullied? Anxiety Disorders Victims of Workplace Bullying Experience The top four anxiety disorders that targets of workplace bullying can experience include:generalized anxiety disorderpanic attackspost-traumatic stress disordersocial anxiety disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder. People with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) are often plagued with worries and fears that distract them from their day-to-day activities. They also report being troubled by a persistent feeling that something bad is going to happen. Outsiders often characterize people with GAD as chronic worriers who feel anxious about something most of the time. Some physical symptoms of GAD include insomnia, stomachaches, restlessness, and fatigue. It is not uncommon for targets of workplace bullying to still worry or even expect that something bad is going to happen. After all, something bad did happen almost every day that they were in the workplace. As a result, this repeated stress filters over into other areas of their lives and becomes a generalized anxiety disorder. Panic attacks. Sometimes called panic disorder or anxiety attacks, people suffering from this condition must deal with unexpected and repeated panic attacks. During an attack, they experience feelings of terror that strike suddenly and repeatedly with no warning. Other symptoms of panic disorder may include sweating, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, and a choking sensation. Sufferers also may struggle with the fear of experiencing another episode. Whatâs more, if left untreated panic attacks can lead to agoraphobia, which is a fear of being in places where escape would be difficult. As a result, agoraphobics often avoid going out. They also avoid going to places like shopping malls or confined spaces like airplanes. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD occurs after a traumatic or life-threatening event. It also can show up after repeated abuse or bullying. Symptoms of PTSD include experiencing flashbacks, having nightmares, startling easily, withdrawing from others and being hyper-vigilant. People suffering from PTSD also avoid situations that remind them of the event. If the workplace bullying was particularly abusive and continued for an extended period of time, it is not surprising that some targets of bullying develop PTSD. Social anxiety disorder. When someone has a debilitating fear of being seen negatively by others or humiliated by others, they may have a social anxiety disorder. People with this disorder are overwhelmed with worry and self-consciousness about everyday social situations. Their fear is that others will judge them. They also are concerned that the way they look or act will lead to embarrassment or ridicule. In severe situations, people with social anxiety disorder avoid social situations altogether. It is not surprising that victims of workplace bullying would develop a social anxiety disorder, especially if they were repeatedly judged and publicly humiliated. They come to believe that the type of embarrassment they experienced at work will happen to them over and over again. When to Seek Professional Help There are some coping strategies that can be effective if a personâs worries, fears or anxiety attacks are not too severe. For instance, some people find that writing down their worries helps. Meanwhile, others allow themselves a set amount of time to worry about something. When the time is up, they force themselves to think about other things. Other options include practicing relaxation techniques, exercise, meditation, and prayer. But when the worries, fears or anxiety issues are significant enough that they are disrupting a personâs life in some way, it is important to seek professional help. Sometimes, physical anxiety symptoms like irregular heartbeats, sweating or persistent anxiety will be related to a medical condition instead of an anxiety disorder. Some possible culprits could be thyroid issues, hypoglycemia or even mitral valve prolapse. Whatâs more, certain medications or herbal remedies could cause symptoms as well. Be sure to consult a doctor for any lingering physical symptoms especially irregular heartbeats or breathing difficulties. If the doctor rules out a medical condition, consulting with a therapist or counselor that has experience treating anxiety issues is the next step. The counselor can determine the type of anxiety disorder that is present. She also can help the person work through any workplace bullying that was experienced. Talking to someone about workplace bullying is helpful in finding closure and moving on. In fact, it is a crucial step toward healing from workplace bullying. Joseph Campbell talked a little bit about the heroine, who is a female hero, and most people do not believe that women can be heroes. The first thing that caught my attention in The Hunger Games movie series was the main character and hero, Katniss Everdeen. She was a great example of a hero. She embodies the definition of a hero by the sense of the word; she was not only a great fighter in front of a strong male but she also volunteered to take the place of her little sister who was chosen in the first place. Spoken language takes place in person, is transitory and relies on sounds. Whereas web based communication takes place online where speakers can be many miles apart during a conversation. We will write a custom essay sample on Comparing Spoken and Written Communication or any similar topic only for you Order Now So the features in web based communication are not present in spoken communication. A common factor which is required for a spoken conversation is turn-taking. This is when another speaker(s) allow the active speaker to finish conveying their point without interrupting. An example in my transcript is ââ¬ËOr do you want to check? ââ¬â¢ which is a complete utterance then the reply is ââ¬ËWeââ¬â¢ll both checkââ¬â¢. After person H has finished speaking only then does person F reply, this makes sure that the person speaking has the chance to say what they want to. Turn-taking allows a long and meaningful conversation to take place. If a speaker is interrupted, the other speaker will not be able to produce a sufficient response, causing the conversation to eventually end. Many spoken conversation conversations contain spontaneity; face to face conversations have to be quick and spontaneous. Speakers need to think of what they are going to say almost immediately. Rapid responses can avoid awkward and unwanted pauses. Sometimes the time given for a response is often too short, so to give the speaker some time to think about what to say next, fillers are used. An example is ââ¬ËErm, I donââ¬â¢t knowââ¬â¢. Fillers are commonly used at the beginning of a sentence or in the middle when the speaker is unsure of what to say (next). Without fillers the previous speaker may think they are still required to speak. We based communication can be considered as a mixture of written and spoken language as it has the spontaneous feature of spoken language but written as it gives the reader some margin in the time for their response. Some features such as fillers and non-fluency pauses are not displayed in web based language. Also as it is not done face to face, responders use other means of showing emotion, emphasis and in some circumstances, context. This leads to my first difference between web based and spoken language. As web based communication is made mostly of numbers, words and symbols. The actual meaning in spoken language is normally shown by the speakers tone, facial expression and gestures ââ¬â which can be distorted, making it hard to display the literal meaning of text (pragmatics). So to get around this situation, online communications often use numbers, symbols and emoticons as representations of facial expressions. For example person F says ââ¬ËYh, it woz sooo easy :)ââ¬â¢ the emoticon was made using a colon and a closing bracket, indicating the casual and acknowledging manner as it would have been spoken as it a face to face conversation between person F and H. Features like these are not present in spoken language because they are already indicated by paralinguistic features. For example hand/body gestures and facial language of the speaker(s) which allow the pragmatic meaning and context to be understood properly. Another difference between spoken and web based communication is the way particular words and phrases are accentuated with the purpose to change the anticipated meaning. In spoken language this is done through the elongation of words such as ââ¬ËHiiiiââ¬â¢, or through altering the intonation of the voice, these are examples of prosodic features. Elongation is when a word is extended to place emphasis on the word(s) and to highlight its significance in the conversation However, while elongation of words in web based communication can simply be depicted as the repletion of vowels or consonants. Words in web based communication are not heard but read; consequently the physical varying of dynamics cannot be expressed. I have explored the differences between web based and spoken language but similarities are also shared between the two. Whilst speaking, specifically during long conversations, speakers often wish to speak as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid zoning out and causing ear aches to yourself or the person you are talking to. Therefore to avoid any of the above from happening elision and ellipsis are used, elision is the omission of a vowel or syllable to make a word shorter by omitting a vowel or syllable (e. g. didnââ¬â¢t, wonââ¬â¢t, canââ¬â¢t, etc. ) or by combining two words together for example: gonna which is going and to, wanna which is want and to. Elision is when whole words are removed from context but the utterance can still be understood for example ââ¬ËSame, just sitting down. ââ¬â¢ is a shortened version of ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m doing the same thing, just sitting downââ¬â¢. This is also visible in web based communication; ellipsis and elision are used to convey a message quicker. However, unlike in spoken communication, this is done because many people are not able to type letters quickly or some websites such as twitter impose a character limit so acronyms and abbreviations are used to reduce the number of letters, spaces, symbols and numbers in the message. An example of an acronym is ââ¬Ëâ⬠¦g2gâ⬠¦ ââ¬â¢ this stands for ââ¬Ëgot to goââ¬â¢ so it is a more rapid way of getting a message across using 2 letters and a number, especially when a person online has to go. Word shortening, using ellipsis and elision is more apparent online than in spoken language. The word length is determined by how many syllables a word has, not letters. For that reason numerous acronyms are used online as opposed to a spoken conversation, as acronyms do not provide any benefit in spoken communication. In todayââ¬â¢s society and culture spoken communication is valued more than web based communication; this is why a good speech holds more significance and inspiration than an article online, spoken communication is genuine, authentic and unique. This could be due to the fact that the speakers tone, facial expression, gestures and emotion is expressed, whereas in web based communication we stare an emotionless, cold and bare wall of text. It may also be attributable to the point that the full capability of the internet has not yet been demoralised. Their 12th studio album, ââ¬Å"Sorceress,â⬠is no exception to this trend. This album marks five years and the third album since the bandââ¬â¢s controversial switch to a cleaner, lighter sound, leaving the heavy distortion and harsh vocals of their death metal roots behind. Although many fans would like Opeth to return to their old sound, frontman and songwriter Mikael Akerfeldt has made it clear that his personal taste has changed ââ¬â and so has the direction of the band. That said, Opethââ¬â¢s metal background remains evident in tracks such as ââ¬Å"Chrysalis.â⬠Opethââ¬â¢s style change did little to subdue the bandââ¬â¢s immense popularity; just one week after its release, ââ¬Å"Sorceressâ⬠hit top-ten album charts across Europe and became the bests elling hard music record in America. We will write a custom essay sample on Sorceress by Opeth or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The albumââ¬â¢s 11 tracks total just under an hour. Every song, with the exception of the entirely acoustic ââ¬Å"Will O the Wisp,â⬠features guitar and synthesizer passages that complement each other magnificently, a skill Opeth has mastered. The album seamlessly transitions from heavy, chaotic swirls of instrumentals to simpler guitar and vocal parts, and vice versa, without detracting from the flow of the music. This dichotomy is particularly evident in ââ¬Å"The Wilde Flowersâ⬠which features two acoustic interludes and a particularly complex ending. Akerfeldtââ¬â¢s vocals stand out. His wide range of styles even includes some harsh vocals, though not the guttural growls of death metal. Each song has a distinct sound while fitting into the overall album. The album flows smoothly and never seems disjointed. All instrumentation and vocals are highly technical and executed flawlessly. The production is clean and features a retro sound that fits the mood. As far as musicianship goes, ââ¬Å"Sorceressâ⬠ranks high on the bandââ¬â¢s overall discography. Technical mastery aside, music is inherently subjective. Some fans of the band, myself included, feel that ââ¬Å"Sorceressâ⬠lacks in songwriting and emotion, especially when compared with older albums. ââ¬Å"Sorceressâ⬠fails to deliver much emotional substance and often seems lackluster. This album is saved from mediocrity by three songs: ââ¬Å"Crystalis,â⬠ââ¬Å"Strange Brew,â⬠and ââ¬Å"Era.â⬠ââ¬Å"Chrysalisâ⬠is the heaviest, skillfully situated between two slow, peaceful songs to emphasize its abrasive style. Featuring double bass drumming, and fading out with a guitar solo, itââ¬â¢s clear from this track that Opeth has maintained some metal influence. ââ¬Å"Strange Brewâ⬠starts with a soft, jazzy guitar and takes the listener on a nearly nine-minute trip through Opethââ¬â¢s musical mastery. Call and response lines featuring Akerfel dtââ¬â¢s harsher vocals coupled with drumming, in addition to mystifying guitar and synthesizer tones, make this song my favorite since 2005ââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Ghost Reveries.â⬠ââ¬Å"Eraâ⬠ends the album on an uplifting note. Arguably the emotional pinnacle of the album, it presents feelings of hope and happiness. The main chorus ââ¬Å"The end of an era/One starts anewâ⬠can be seen as Opethââ¬â¢s own style shift and the end of their death-metal era; although the bandââ¬â¢s style has changed, it has just begun to explore its new identity. ââ¬Å"Sorceressâ⬠is a strong but not outstanding album. Although portions are forgettable, the album is definitely worth a listen. Fans of prog rock will thoroughly enjoy it, and even fans of Opethââ¬â¢s old style will find parts they like. Time will tell where this album falls in Opethââ¬â¢s discography and the world of rock and metal as a whole. But one thing is certain, Opeth will continue to perfect its styl e and make beautiful music for years to come. Horizontal integration Supermarkets have economies of scope when they offer a variety of products or services that do not comprise the usual basic goods and services available in supermarket stores (Abernathy et al, 2000). Such products and services may include ready cooked meals, financial services (such as retail banking), fuel stations, clothing and furniture, among other diverse provisions through a single service infrastructure, the store. These not only meet todayââ¬â¢s busy shopperââ¬â¢s preference for a one-stop shop, but also lead to the provision of a complementary variety of products concentrated on the supermarkets core competence (Hines et al, 2004). This results in the distribution of costs over a wide and diverse range of products resulting in overall savings. The expansion of stores such as Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury into various service-provision segments (demand-driven diversification) so as to appeal to the modern consumer illustrates this strategy (Morrisons, 2012). A supermarket chain may also pursue related diversification building upon and extending existing capability, resources or expertise to achieve greater competitiveness. Cost savings are enabled when a business transfers expertise in one business to a new business, as well as in the businesses sharing operational skills and know-how, facilities, equipment or other existing assets including intangible assets such as corporate core competence (Handï ¬ eld and Nichols, 2002). This can be illustrated by the entry of supermarket chains such as Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury into the convenience store segment in pursuit of customer preference for smaller stores and small frequent shopping trends. This venture is in order to supplement waning revenues of larger stores (Morrisons, 2012). Outsourcing The progress of the general-purpose technology such as information technology (IT) enables the reduction of market transaction costs which leads to increased capacity for outsourcing (Abernathy et al, 2000). Outsourcing for a supermarket chain may entail contracting suppliers to undertake time-consuming and logistically challenging tasks such as warehousing and distribution, as well as new services such as the ready-cooked food segments. Such a strategy is necessitated if the existing mode of in-house performance of these tasks is more costly than obtaining it through market transactions or some form of long term contractual relationship (Hines et al, 2004). Efficiency is thereby enhanced in the conduct of the supermarketââ¬â¢s core activities, reducing costs associated with outsourced tasks and enhancing potential revenues increases. Product or service redesign Many supermarket chains are seeking to tap into new segments such as the online marketplace not only to meet customer preferences but also to reduce costs associated with its usual processes (Abernathy et al, 2000). In this customers order for product items which are then sent to their stated locations cutting off a number of processes that were hitherto undertaken thereby enabling significant savings. Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury, among other supermarket chains are pursuing such new market segments in pursuit of enhanced competitiveness and customer preference (Morrisons, 2012). Airline We consider an airline whose business provides basic services of passenger travel including scheduling, preparation and planning for flights, check-in, actual flight to destinations, and customer service. Pursuit of scope economics, outsourcing and product or service redesign which are the cost reduction methods focused upon in this paper are herein discussed with regard to an airline business. Economies of scope In this regard, vertical and horizontal integration mechanisms are discussed outlining their contribution to cost reduction. Vertical integration Vertical integration for an airline may entail the uptake of activities beyond its usual scope such as ticketing commonly undertaken by local service providers along its supply chain. Progress into such fronts is greatly enhanced by developments in internet technologies which enable customers to book flights, buy and print out tickets online, reducing the need for staff and investment on facilities dedicated to this task (Abernathy et al, 2000). This removes the costs of commissions paid out to the service providers as well as related organizational costs resulting in cost savings and greater efficiency. Horizontal integration To achieve economies of scope and thereby reductions in cost, an airline might venture into the cargo segment, customizing some of its existing planes for this purpose and delegating some staff under its organizational structure to run processes associated with cargo handling and transport. Through this related diversification of operations, the firm is able to build upon or extend its existing capability, resources or areas of expertise to achieve greater competitiveness (Handï ¬ eld and Nichols, 2002). An airline could also pursue mergers or scope acquisitions, to enhance or extend its product portfolio. This is a common trend in the industry with airlines frequently collaborating and coordinating their activities to achieve efficiency gains as well as to widen their geographical markets, reaching to routes across the globe and specific markets served by partner airlines which might not be feasible for it as a single entity (VBA, 2011). It has also become a common trend for airlines to invest in hotels and other facilities in the hospitality industry so as to tap onto an existing demand, as well as to reduce their costs in cases of delays and other unforeseen circumstances which usually result in added costs for the airline. This strategy turns the airlines previous challenges into strengths, as well as providing a revenue stream from related divestiture. Horizontal integration can be illustrated by Virgin airlines in its strategic alliances with Etihad Airways and Delta Air Lines which enhance its reach to the TransPacific Los Angeles route and the Abu Dhabi route, its gateway to Europe, Africa and the Middle East, with the collaboration benefiting all the partner airlines (VBA, 2011). Outsourcing Outsourcing for an airline is undertaken to streamline operations and enhance service quality (Wynstra et al., 2001). Tasks such as aircraft maintenance and ground support, as well as food processing for service on-board are labour-intensive and specialized tasks that can be outsourced if costs of contracting them are favourable. This would enable the airline to enhance focus on customer service and operations related to flight reducing overheads and other cost requirements. An example is Navitaire, a service supplier for airlines, which offers an extensive global distribution suite enabling low-cost reservations which has enabled the improvement of profitability especially among the low-cost airlines using the service, lower operational and distribution costsà and generation of ancillary revenues (Abernathy et al, 2000). Product/service redesign To enhanced service offerings in the competitive business environment and, as well, to rein in on rising costs, it is incumbent upon airline companies to conduct frequent network reviews, fleet realignments, operational integration so as to ensure that they remain profitable, effective and efficient in their processes. The company in the redesign and realignment should be bold enough to undertake thought-out exit from the non-profitable routes lowering its liabilities and costs. An example is Virgin Australiaââ¬â¢s endeavour at restructuring in 2011 following its poor performance evident in its 2010 financial results (VBA, 2011). Conclusion For sustainability, the aim of the cost-cutting strategy is to maximize efficiency without compromising growth potential. To achieve this, companies need to identify core competencies upon which focus is enhanced and efficiency improved, with the non-core functions being trimmed and consolidated to achieve reduction in unnecessary costs (Hines et al, 2004). Such savings can be reinvested in critical assets, enhancing core competencies and thereby improving overall efficiency. The Odyssey is one of the greatest works of classical literature and is one of two epic poems attributed to Homer. Its characters, images, and story arc are integrated into many more contemporary works; for example, James Joyces great modernist work Ulysses uses the structure of The Odyssey to create a unique and complex work of fiction. About Homer and The Odyssey The Odyssey was written in about 700 BCE and was intended to be recited or read aloud. To make this task easier, most characters and many objects are provided with epithets: short phrases uses to describe them each time they are mentioned. Examples include rosy-fingered dawn, and gray-eyed Athena. The Odyssey includes 24 books and 12,109 lines written in a poetic meter called dactylic hexameter. The poem was probably written in columns on parchment scrolls. It was first translated into English in 1616. Scholars are not in agreement as to whether Homer actually wrote or dictated the entire 24 books of The Odyssey. In fact, there is even some disagreement about whether Homer was a real historical man (though it is probable that he did exist). Some believe that Homers writings (including a second epic poem called The Iliad) were actually the work of a group of authors. The disagreement is so significant that the debate about Homers authorship has been given the name The Homeric Question. Whether or not he was the sole author, however, it seems likely that a Greek poet named Homer played a major role in its creation. The Story of The Odyssey The story of The Odyssey begins in the middle. Ulysses has been away for almost 20 years, and his son, Telemachus, is searching for him. In the course of the first four books, we learn that Odysseus is alive. In the second four books, we meet Ulysses himself. Then, in books 9-14, we hear of his exciting adventures during his odyssey or journey. Ulysses spends 10 years trying to get back home to Ithaca after the Greeks win the Trojan War.à On his way home, Ulysses and his men encounter various monsters, enchanters, and dangers. Ulysses is known for his cunning, which he uses when his men find themselves stuck in the cave of the Cyclops Polyphemus. However, Ulysses trick, which includes blinding Polyphemus, puts Ulysses on the bad side of the Cyclops father, Poseidon (or Neptune in the Latin version). In the second half of the story, the hero has reached his home in Ithaca. Upon arriving, he learns that his wife, Penelope, has turned away more than 100 suitors. He plots and takes revenge on the suitors who have been wooing his wife and eating his family out of hearth and home. This learning method helps to remove the notion that learning is just a passive process where students listen to someone and get what he says. Here one listens to themselves and their peers. This process makes students more involved in the learning process. The more involved they are, the more effective the learning process is. David klob defines self-assessment learning as a process a spiral learning way, which takes into consideration all the fundamentals of learning. These are thinking, reflecting, experiencing, and acting. This makes it very effective (Lippincott, J. 1999, 67). This learning method also helps one to know the requirements that they need in order to achieve a certain goal. Having known their strengths and weakness, this is easier since they know the target they have to set for certain disciplines. They tend to know their expectations, and how to achieve them. Self-assessment can be used in two ways. It can be used in a summative or formative way. In most cases, it is used formatively. In formative ones, peer sets their standards for them; whereas, summative mostly includes the use of group work to set ones target (Catherine. 2011, 25). Lippincott, J. K., 1999. Further still, P-gp promotes the excretion of drugs into the bile ducts of the liver, excretion of drugs into urine, and excretion of drugs into the capillaries of the BBB (Schinkel et al., 1995; Horn & Philip, 2004). Different studies have been conducted in which various inhibitors of P-gp (MDR1) have been used to evaluate the bioavailability of drugs following the inhibition of MDR1. In one such study, the investigators used Dipyridamole to inhibit MDR1. The study hypothesized that inhibition of dipyridamole inhibition will result in increased bioavailability of digoxin. The study found out that dipyridamole increases the absorption of digoxin at the intestine and the plasma levels of digoxin were increased (Celine et al., 2003). In another study, the effect of MDR1 inhibition was measured on the effect of drug interaction between digoxin and quinidine. Quinidine enhances plasma concentration of digoxin by inhibiting MDR1. The co-administration of quinidine and digoxin resulted in an elevated concentration of digoxin and reduced excretion in urine (Fromm et al., 1999). Another study on mice indicated that absence of MDR 1 resulted in reduced excretion of digoxin (Funakoshi et al., 2003), dexame thasone, and Cyclosporin A (Schinkel et al., 1995). Rifampin is an inducer of CD243. A study conducted to determine the bioavailability of digoxin following the administration of rifampin revealed that the plasma concentration of digoxin dropped significantly. The drop has been accounted for by the understanding that rifampin induces the activity of MDR 1. JP 789 inhibits the action of MDR1 and therefore it can be hypothesized that during the interaction study, JP789 will result in an increase in the plasma concentration of digoxin and its reduced excretion in kidney Linwood Bernalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15739314477112299289noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5867138607701477055.post-27957974529292728802020-01-25T05:52:00.001-08:002020-01-25T05:52:02.149-08:00Film Review of Blades of Glory Essay -- essays research papersBlades of Glory, directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, is a hilarious comedy that turns figure skating into one big joke. However, the food-borne illnesses have raised some serious for the health department and in dealing with this illnesses the community needs to be educated on public food safety. Recognizing several common concerns connected to food purchase, storage, and presentation, explains several illnesses or crises the safety problem may affect to avoid the illnesses or crises and recommendation for where person who reads may search for more information. Include criteria that readers must use to determine creditable sources of information, explain why it is important for readers to use criteria when searching for information on nutrition (Wardlaw, Smith, 2009). Identify Common Safety Issues However, food poisoning can produce critical illness, but individuals can protect themselves and their family. In other word germs such as E.coli, salmonella, and listeria usually cause food poisoning. However, these pathogens usually relates with meat and fowl products, although the pathogens are capable of making their way into fresh produce through disaster or accidents while they are harvested, within the resource where they are managed or in local grocery store. Meanwhile, cheese may be contaminated with pathogens, but cheese and produce also has been subject as a food recall. * When shopping for groceries please consider recent recall items. Some stories may come through the news to reach community, so pay close attention to those stories, and remember them while making out a grocery list. Please be mindful that recall food take place on a regular basis however, recalls frequently affects a minor portion of food in certain area. * Before purchasing food inspect it as well as ma king sure meat, poultry, produce and cheese has its proper color and no detectable signs of grime. Pay attention to cheese and vegetables when attempting to eat raw however, cooking is simply a good way to go to be sure pathogens have been destroy. * One must store their poultry, meat, and cheese in the refrigerator or freezer as soon as they arrive home. However, the refrigerator must maintain a temperature less than 40 degrees and the freezer, however, has to maintain a temperatures of less than 32 degrees. Some produce items are not requiring being in the refrigerator but it is when the grocery store kept these specific food item at a cooler temperature. However, please keep in mind people should clean their vegetables thoroughly before cooking. Although it is not required to wash meat or poultry products prior to cooking, but always keep in mind to clean vegetables and wash their skins with a scrub brush prior to eating. * In addition, to this be sure to cook carefully as well as being mindful of cross-contamination threats each time a meal is prepared. Be sure to use d ifferent cutting boards and knives when cutting up meat and vegetables. Another important fact makes sure different cooking utensils are used for uncooked and cooked foods, mainly meats. Make certain everything he or she prepare to cook research a safe inside temperature that changes bases on the certain food item a person is cooking. Describe Illnesses or Problems Safety However, restoring the loss of fluid and electrolytes as well as maintaining the fluid intake are worthy. When cooking meat, poultry, and eggs please cook these products well-done. Cross contamination with food is not healthy way to cook which, means avoid cross-contaminating foods by means of washing hands, cooking tools, cutting boards after these utensils has been used for raw meat as well as poultry and prior to the of another food. Be sure to wash all produce. In other word, wash all fresh fruits and vegetables in running tap water to eliminate noticeable and unnoticeable grimes and dirt. At a room temperature bacteria can grow very fast, refrigerate food leftover if not eaten within four hours. Credible Source of Nutritional Information However, there is resource that community rely on such as MyPyramid.gov, WeightWatcher.com and MayoClinic.com however, these sites or very helpful for you and your family. It shows the portions amount one must content on their plate as well as their intake. This information would help the community understands the safety issues when grocery shopping and cooking different type of foods. References Michaelson, A. (2011, May ). As a child, vacations were few and far between. Having three other siblings and a single parent, trips rarely fit into the budget. As I got older, military service and my professional career allowed me to travel to a variety of places. I have been to the east and west coasts, the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, United Kingdom, Germany, and many places in between. However, my most memorable trip was to Fairbanks, Alaska to visit my oldest brother Keith. While I was there the sun shined for approximately twenty hours a day, the mosquitos were unlike anything I had ever experienced, and we went fishing on the Yukon River. During the summer months in Alaska, the sun shines for about 20 hours a day. All the daylight was nice, but could cause problemsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Within seconds after getting out of the truck, they were all over me. I kicked a nearby bush and hundreds of mosquitos flew out of it. My brother and his friends acted as if it was not that bad, I guess a person can get used to anything, but I was having one of the worst experiences of my life. Surprisingly it was not the bite of the mosquitoes, but the menacing noise and what seemed like impending doom. Fortunately, the mosquitoes subsided once we got out on the water. Fishing on the Yukon River was sensational. We started with an hour and a half boat ride up stream to get to our fishing destination. Even though it was the middle of summer the temperature on the river was cold. I watched in amazement, as a bald eagle plucked a fish from the river. Even more incredible was the shear sense of immenseness. We stopped at an inlet to the Yukon River, and that is where we did most of our fishing. We were fishing for Northern Pike and in order to keep them, they had to be between 32 and 46 inches in length. It seemed like everything we caught was either under or over the legal length, but it was still fun catching them. I was so excited about being in Alaska, on the Yukon River, and with my brother, I did not mind releasing most of our catch. After many hours of fishing we decided we had enough for the day. If you were to ask people just walking down the street how they would describe a criminal, most would probably speak of the street criminals. Many people do not pay attention to the white collar crimes or the crimes that are not happening around the area that the live in. We will write a custom essay sample on Crime in Society or any similar topic only for you Order Now Crime to me is something that someone does to break a law. Crime is basically something someone would do if they had lost their job and could not take care of their family. They would fend or what they could get, even if it meant break a law or committing a crime. These people would feel as if there was nothing else out there. Society has the options to view crime as they will. Some will define crime as everything is bad if they are breaking a law, they should be punished. Others would define it to be light for some criminals that have punishments and for crimes like murder some would consider this crime is a death penalty case in some societies. Someone can define crime with any of their opinions. Many people define crime as murder, robbery, or even damage to someone elseââ¬â¢s property. Many people would consider these crimes to be punishable by law. An accurate statement and crime that we know to be true would be the shooting that happened this year at the movie theater in Colorado. We know that this crime is true because he had guns and ammo hidden within the theater before the incident occurred. Also, that he killed twelve people and injured more than fifty would be another way to show that it is true. It was well planned and thought out for what he was doing and when he was going to do it. There was also eye witnesses that said he looked ready for way. This was one of the deadliest mass shootings in the United States history to date. After they was finished at the scene of the crime, the cops decided to visit his home, in which to find it booby-trapped and found more guns and ammo. One widely misconception that many people have in the world is that finding someone to pic the crime on is the only thing that the police are worried about when solving a case. This misconception has many mixed feelings throughout the world. My opinion is that as long as they have someone to call a suspect or someone to pin the crime on, they do not care. Another would be that our judicial system is fair to everyone. This statement can be very broad because many things affect the way our system is operated. One last misconception that we have today within the world would be that the death penalty is wanted by everyone. Defenders of the death enalty also suggest that it is a cost-effective way to eliminate the added expense of housing serious criminals in prison for life (Collica Furst, 2012). Many people with the thoughts of the death penalty have mixed thoughts. Many people share the same feelings I share meaning, I do not think that they should be trying to enforce the death penalty until they fix the corrections within the systems and know that for one hundred percent fact they have the person that committed the crime. Other proponents argue that the execution of the offender will bring closure and will allow survivors to move on with their lives (Armour Umbreit, 2007; Gross Matheson, 2003). ââ¬Å"Killing innocents is murder, and if the state does it in our name, because we have demanded it, then we are guilty of it. And if we are all guilty of premeditated murder, then we should all get the death penalty (that is one instance where crime will certainly drop dramatically)â⬠(Leman-Langlois). Answer: Introduction: Learning style refers to a wide range of opposing and challenging theories, which aim to account the variation in the learning systems of an individual. Understanding the learning process gives one the awareness of their preferred learning style, and one can develop their individual learning strategies to overcome the differences between teaching and learning styles. The notion of personalized learning styles has gained worldwide acknowledgment in education and classroom management theories from 1970s. According to Baldwin and Jones 2015, any learning style depends on the emotional, cognitive, and the environmental factors of an individual, as well as the prior experience. It is important for the educators to implement individual strategies for their students. There are several theories on learning styles, amongst those VAK Learning Style and Honey Mumford Learning Style seem to be well established worldwide. One of the most widely accepted learning style is VAK Learning Style, developed by psychologists in 1920s to classify the common ways of learning. Gholami and Bagheri 2013 state that, this learning style uses three major sensory receivers Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic to establish the prevailing learning style. Generally, in VAK Learning Style, one or two of these modalities are dominant in the learning process. When a learner chooses the visual mode of learning, he understands and retains new information more accurately, when in the learning process pictures, diagrams, charts etc are presented for instance. A learner with auditory dominant style prefers to listen and understand the new information. He/she responds better in a auditory dominant setting, for instance, in a group discussion or in a lecture. If the student can hear his/her own voice repeating back to the educator, that might be helpful as well. The Kinaesthetic learner prefers the learning process to be dominant wi th physical experiences. He/she will respond best if touching and moving is involved in the learning experience. Amongst the three learning procedures, I prefer the kinaesthetic learning, because I respond better while there are few activities involved in the learning process. While listening to lectures, I take notes; while reading I like to scan the study material first, then to focus on the details about the rest. I also like to learn innovative skills if I can get physically involved, like other kinaesthetic learners. I prefer assembling things and understanding the procedure, rather than looking at a chart and read, the theoretical approaches. However, there are some advantages and disadvantages of this particular learning process. The foremost advantage of the learning procedure is that, there are few situations, where the educator has to follow the hand-on learning, such as trying to train a teenager riding a bicycle. Apart from that, according to Schmeck 2013, the kinaesthetic learning process allows the learners to observe and understand the practical methods, which enhances the learning procedure. Nevertheless, this has also been proven insignificant while the students are trying to learn complex theoretical subjects. If a student wants to obtain high grades in school, there is no other way than reading and writing. Another learning style, Honey Mumford Style, was developed on the work of Kolb, and four distinct learning styles were identified, such as, Activist, Theorist, Pragmatist and Reflector. Activists are those who like to learn things by doing it. They have an open-minded approach and like to brainstorm while learning. The theorists are those people, who like to know the theories behind the actions. They learn by models, diagrams, and statistics and prefer to analyse them. Pragmatists prefer to learn by putting the theories into the practical world. They try to experiment and try new ideas. The reflectors are those, who learn by observing and understanding the experiences. They also prefer to view experiences from numbers of perspectives by collecting data from primary and secondary sources (Manolis et al. 2013). My learning style is reflector, because I follow the careful way of thinking to understand and learn things. I choose to consider all the implications first. In fact, I prefer to observe others talking in the meetings and get a drift about the context to conclude. Just like other styles, this learning procedure also has few advantages and drawbacks. The style raises questions in the mind of the learner and helps them to come up with new ideas, but at the same time, they tend to wait a lot before starting the work and easily distracted. Several theories of learning style have been criticised by many scholars, some of them even questioned the scientific base of the theories. However, many educators have shown that different learning styles have worked in their classroom environment, though if a student wants to score well in his career, he has to follow a combination of different learning styles to enhance their knowledge. However, in Dr. Michael Harts book The 100 Most Influential People in History Sir Isaac Newton is listed as the second most substantial person in history with Muhammad being the first, and Jesus Christ being the third. Surely it must take a great man to reach a status higher than Jesus Christ! So what was it that Sir Isaac Newton did to elevate himself above the other physicists of yesterday and today such as: Thales of Miletus (625-545 B.C), Tycho Brahe (1546-1601), Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), Albert Einstein (1879-1955), James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879), and Richard Feynman (1918-1988)? The answer to this question can be found within Sir Isaac Newton's gathering of the laws and theories of the physicists before him that w ere to be used in the development of his own three laws of motion. These three laws paved the way for the physicists of the future, and still lie at the heart of almost every modern day physics problem. Michael Write the author of Isaac Newton The Last Sorcerer states ?It is no exaggeration to say that almost everything we do in the modern world is based upon Sir Isaac Newton's enormous achievements and that this position is justified by his unparallel contributions to science.? (p.363) The donations to science that made Sir Isaac Newton the most renowned physicist in history also molded and enhanced mankind's view of the world around them. Daniel Orange, PhD., and Gregg Stebben say, ?The genius of Newton's laws made it possible to predict the behavior of anything mechanical that the eye can see? reducing the complex world to a simple machine much like a car, a bike, or an egg beater.? Although Sir Isaac Newton died in 1727, his great work continued to advance our knowledge of not o nly our planets machinelike properties, but of the other planetary bodies within our universe. In George Gamow's book The Great Physicists from Galileo to Einstein It is written ?The development of Newton's work carried out by great mathematicians of the 18th and 19th centuries have allowed us to calculate with great precision the motion of the planets of the solar systems under the action of mutual gravitational attraction.? (p.62) So as one can see, Sir Isaac Newton's guidance helped us to achieve the last 600 years of scientific enlightenment, and as Alexander Pope once said ? Nature and nature's laws lay hid in the night: God said, Let NEWTON BE and all was light.? Bibliography Not really a essay. More or less it is a short paragraph I wrote for developmental english. Peace and liberty were, ultimately, Grotius's capstones necessary for ensuring that a society was a safe and promising place to live. Obviously, with the example that will be shown later on with the Bosnian War, Bosnia was neither a peaceful place to live, nor was it a place in which there was much liberty for anyone, especially during wartime. International law is complicated in Grotius's view. "The contemporary problem of humanitarian intervention is another difficult aspect of the same matter. In the Grotian view, humanitarian intervention could be a just war."3 However, if war is the only way to propagate peace, perhaps it might be one of the avenues that is seriously considered. Just war theory posits that there are in fact circumstances in which war is warranted for achieving certain purposes. If one nation is, for example, oppressing another nation or not recognizing its sovereignty, this might be a reason a nation would decide to go to war. There may be other mitigating circumstances which would allow for people to go to war. Just war theory is difficult to defend and it is even harder to defend when one is the nation against whom war is being declared. However, people must understand that they cannot singlehandedly take over other peoples' countries. One example is the Bosnian War. For example, several Bosniaks were taken advantage of in the Bosnian War. The Serbs and the Croats were pitted against the Bosniaks. The Serbians were the ones who were against the Bosni Linwood Bernalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15739314477112299289noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5867138607701477055.post-56675149311710068912019-11-16T10:42:00.001-08:002019-11-16T10:42:12.197-08:00Strategic Management Accounting and applying itStrategic Management Accounting and applying it With the rapid development of the global economy, traditional management accounting has been difficult to meet the business strategic management and requirements. Strategic Management Accounting(SMA) for the modern enterprise is of great significance. However, it is a new techniques and approaches. Although strategic management accounting has been developed over 20 years, the SMA is still debatable. In addition, a number of scholars have experienced to define what SMA is, however, the opinions of the scholars is still not yet able to be generalized. Yet, strategic management accounting is still at the exploratory stage. Management accounting plays a crucial role in the business world. It provides important advice in order to make decision for the firms in the western society. The costs of offering excellent products strategically need to be fully integrated into the enterprise cost system and being reported by these systems. Management accounting helps monitoring the performance of the management. Therefore, the customers can then be securely kept in the same market. This could also be helpful on understanding the market in a better way. Strategic management market aims to obtain the information of the rivals in the same market; this provides support to their business when making decision since the owner could adjust their budget plan according the reports of the strategic management market. Strategic management accounting is recently developed in management accounting. It involved in planning, control and requires financial information. In the strategic management planning and control systems, R.N.Anthony believes that there are two different oriented processes which are externally and internally. Externally oriented process is a financial accounting. Moreover, an internally oriented process is including strategic planning, management control and operational control. During the strategic planning process, it is the role of formulating strategy and it emphasis on planning. Planning defines aims, objectives and targets of organizations and also does formulation, evaluation and selection of policies, strategies, tactics and actions to achieve them. The orientation is planning outside the organization which is relating to the organizations environment. Secondly, after strategic planning, management control would be followed. The main function of this process is implementing strategy which can be a part of the planning. In the final stage, operational control is mainly responsible for controlling however also performing the tasks as well as planning. In this process it ensure that resources and obtained and used effectively and efficiently to achieve organizational goals and procedures adhered to or appropriate remedial action taken. It normally occurs within the organization. Strategy orientated accounting complements the traditional concerns of the West accounting. It focuses on the additional costs in order to maintain competitive advantages of enterprises of actual and potential rivals. It focuses on the cost impact enterprise products and marketing strategies and it can be seen as an essence for success in todays meeting the challenges of an increasingly global market. Generally speaking, such re-orientation is another license management accounting focused on the value of consumer generated relative to its competitors. It also helps monitoring the companys performance in the market variables using a series of strategic decisions over the horizon which would be long enough to achieve the strategic plan. These concepts form the core of the new concept of SMA. In addition, there are 12 strategic management accounting practices. They are competitive position monitoring, strategic pricing, competitor performance appraisal, competitor cost assessment, strat egic costing, value-chain costing, brand value monitoring brand value budgeting, attribute costing, quality costing, life-cycle costing and target costing. However, the main methods in SMA which are strategic costing, target costing and product life-cycle. Although there are a lot of practices, there is still of a lower usage and recognized by a couple of organizations. In 1981, Ken Simmonds has firstly proposed the strategic management accounting, he developed the SMA definition. After his speech, SMA has been concerned day by day. In the speech, he mentioned to collect management accounting information about a business and the competitors for the uses in developing and monitoring the business strategy. He argues that management accounting should be more outward looking and should help the emphasis to place upon relative levels and trends in real costs and prices, cash flow, market share and stewardship of the resources available to the business. It can be developed and controlled the enterprise strategic. Ken Simmonds suggested that profits are not from internal efficiencies but from the companys competitive position in its market. He raised several ideas for the application of SMA in the business. He stressed the importance of the learning curve with respect to achieve strategic advantage by forecasting cost reductions and thus selling price reductions of competitors. He also drew attention to the importance of early experience to the new product as a meaning to give a unique advantage over competitors. Major competitor should be able to reduce the sales price of the products which should further increase its production and enhance its market share; which eventually force some competitors to leave the industry. Secondly, Simmonds shows that the cost-volume-profit relationship of competitors could predict the price response and management accounting functions to help assessing the cost structure of each major competitor and relating this to their prices. In addition to handling costs and prices, Simmonds concentrated on volume and market share by monitoring the movement of the market share as the main products, companies can see if it is acquired or lost status and competitors will show different strength in the market share. Including detailed information on the market, management accounting report will help to enable more strategic management accounting-related. Simmonds suggested that the market share of the statements may be included in managed accounts. He believes that SMA will develop in management accounting in the future. One of the main advocates of Strategic Management Accounting is M.E. Porter(1985). His argument on strategic management is considered as the important information. Porter mentions a two pronged approach. First, he assessed various aspects of the industrys long-term profitability. He believes the five competitive forces will contribute to strategic balance. This is a threat to new entrants, substitute products or services enter the market, competition among existing institutions within the industry, bargaining power of suppliers and consumers. These five forces fully reflect the competitiveness of many enterprises in an increasingly competitive. However, Porter has also raised the question of the relative position of the enterprise in the industry. This issue is important because it affects the ability of enterprises to create profits above or below the industry average. Returns may be higher than average to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. This is achieved by three basic generic strategies which are cost leadership, differentiation and focus. Cost leadership means that companies intended to serve as the lowest cost of production in the industries. This is achieved by economies of scale; capital of the experience curve effect, tight cost control and cost minimization. Also, the company aims to provide a number of different levels of product and service value to customers. It can generate a premium price. This is the differentiation part. Focus is another part of the bargaining power which concerns about the cost and differentiation focus. Porter mentioned that the value chain is needed to determine the future of the practice of strategic management accounting. Value is the customer willing to pay which is a function of the image products. In the value chain, there are nine elements. Some of these cost drivers may be controllable. The nine elements of the value chain can also be separated as either support activities or main activities. For the support activities, they are firm infrastructure, human resources, technology development and procurement. And the main activities are inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing and sales and services. For example, Internal value chain analysis is the objectives of promoting enterprises to eliminate useless operations and reduce waste. The factory analyses the operating level step by step. The main reason is to focus on the market and customer. The operations and the activities of the business-internal price chain analysis enable the cost management of enterprises to maintain the basic operating level, and explore each layer of worth operations, eliminating useless operations. The value of Competitors chain analysis can identify the merits and shortcomings in the company. The conclusion of the market and competitors analysis that compared to the competitors on the market, production quality and diversification may not have too much effect. If the strategic can improve the quality or diversification in product to enhance competitiveness, it would be hard to achieve. On the other hand, if firm blindly relying on low prices to gain market share, it will lead to greater losses. In the analysis, the impact of the cost drivers on each of the elements must be assessed by efforts. Also, there must be a satisfactory margin which produced by the cost of the nine elements. Once this is completed, manager must try to make analysis of their own competitors in the same way. Strategic advantage will be able to establish if the elements of the total cost is less than competitors. It is necessary to adopt a more positive attitude to assess if the profit margins higher than those of competition. If not, it is needed to develop strategies to achieve the low cost advantage by controlling the cost drivers. The cost savings would lead to a reduction on costs or improve productivity. Marketing, sales and service costs may be reduced more efficiently, if the reduction in external fault. An obvious example provides a good customer support services to the public. If a Volkswagen breaks down occurs, while the car is in a warranty period, the rescue vehicles comes out and fix it. If it cannot be fixed, and then provide replacement. This is would be good way handle but the cost would be expensive (C.DRURY, 2008). Shank based on Porter (1985) proposed three generic strategies in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Shank also mentions the needs for management accounting to support the enterprises competitive strategy and clarify two different types of competitive strategy the first one is cost leadership and product differentiation. The second one is demand different cost analysis perspective. For example, standard product cost is likely to be a very important tool for management control in the company that pursuing a cost leadership strategy in a mature commodity business. On the contrary, standard product cost is probably not important after the differentiation strategy of enterprises. With the market-driven, there is rapidly changing and fast-growing business. A companys pursuit of product differentiation strategy may require more information than on the cost of the leading about new product innovation, design cycles, research and development expenditures and marketing cost analysis. The difference between the cost leadership and product differentiation which depend on the primary strategic thrust of the firm. Recently, Professor Bromwich(1994) further discusses strategic management accounting and definition of strategic management accounting such as the provision analysis of financial information on the firms product markets, competitors costs, cost structures, the monitoring of the enterprises strategies and those of its competitors in these markets over a number of periods. Bromwich found that SMA is a development of management accounting. This new techniques needed to be further discussed by the accountants in the future. Moreover, Bromwich mentioned that the role of accounting is going to extend in two directions when adding the strategic perspective to traditional management accounting. First, in strategic cost analysis, costs need to integrated into it and thus align costs with strategy. Secondly, in a fairly general way, the cost structure in competitors businesses and to record the changes over time. To achieve this, Bromwich also highlights this distinction identifying two domina nt approaches to SMA. One seeks to cost the product attributes offered by a companys goods. It is to attract customers. The other approach is to cost the functions in the value chain which provide value to the customer. (Bromwich and Bhimani ,1994) In the cost leadership strategy development trends, as well as obsolete the traditional cost accounting. SMA focus is based on the benefits and it is doubtful for the standard costing performance measurement; suspected the use of flexible manufacturing costs, budget control, a worship of the budget; strict adherence to the traditional product cost pricing decisions; one to consider the cost of competitors; the absence of formal consideration of the marketing costs. Roslender (1995) determine the target cost as a domain within strategic management accounting. This is the reason why focus on the external part and this is a market-oriented approach for product pricing and cost management. In addition, it involves the proliferation of management accounting throughout the organization and active participation of staff in a broad range of management functions. Their goal is to achieve the target cost, including the identification, evaluation and use of cost functional analysis of the product attributes and research opportunities to reduce costs throughout the value chain. Moreover, a recent contribution to the role of SMA, emphasizing the management accounting in the development and support the overall competitive strategy of an organization is the Balanced Scorecard. The purpose of the Balanced Scorecard is to encourage behavior consistent with organizational strategy. It includes a comprehensive framework for performance measurement to clarify, com munication and management strategy. (Kaplan and Norton, 1992). He sees SMA as an approach that to account for strategic positioning by the trials to integrate the views from the previous marketing texts into management accounting. Robin Roslender and Susan J.Hart mentions that SMA is intimately associated with both management accounting and marketing management because SMA is on a strategic level who attends to change in the environment outside the enterprise but not limited to this one part of the enterprise, SMA explore the whole industry value chain in the business information and improve the enterprises economic environment. It emphasis that enterprise development and environmental change are consistent, in order to achieve the optimal effectiveness of industry, SMA requires marketing management to collect the information of competitors. The management accountants collect, compare, and analyze the information. The analysis of SMA is depending on the information from marketing management. It is controversial that if it is necessary for the management accountants to handle to the marketing information or the marketing management can obtain the information with their own tool. Innes (1998) believes that strategic management accounting for the provision of information to support strategic decision-making in enterprise. Strategic decision-making usually involves in a long-term period, there is a significant impact on the organization, even though they may have an internal element, and they also have external factors. This definition was introduced that provide information in order to support an organizations principal long-term decisions, such as the use of activity-based costing information, provide the relevant information product structure, the introduction and abandonment decisions are the domain of SMA. This view is support by Cooper and Kaplan (1988) who state that strategic accounting techniques are designed to support the entire organizations competitive strategy. Generally speaking, the power of using information technology is to develop more sophisticated product and service costs. Despite strategic management accounting has received, there is still no comprehensive conceptual framework of what strategic management accounting (Tomkins and Carr, 1996). For example, Coad(1996) states that SMA is an emerging field whose boundaries are loose and there is still no unified view of what it is or how it might develop. The existing literature in the field is both disparate and disjointed (Coad, 1996:332). There is an exception such the survey which conducted by Guilding et al. (2000). The survey sample included 312 large companies. Guilding et al. found that recognition of what is difficult to determine the composition of the strategic management of generally accepted accounting practice. According to the review of the literature, they identified 12 strategic management accounting practices including value-chain costing, strategic costing, target cost, life-cycle costing, attribute costing etc. These are being used to determine the practice, it is a must demonstrate one or more of the following characteristics: the environment and market position focus on competitors; and long-term, forward-looking direction. At the end of the experiment, Guilding et al concluded that 12 strategic management accounting practices are of relatively low usage, there are two factors that should not dismiss their potential. First of all, all the evaluation of SMA practices may be significantly higher than expected utilization of the advantages of scoring points. Secondly, there are still many companies have abandoned the usages of the SMA. These findings showed that there is a difference between the neediness and the actual reports conducted. It finds that there the practicing accountants do not familiar with the usage of the SMA. This gives supports to the findings of Tomkins and Carrs (1996) while they believed that the SMA is ill-defined. In addition, it is still lacking of the strategic management accounting consensus. (Lord, 1996) stated that a number of strands have been used to describe the strategic management accounting. It magnifies the internal focus of traditional management accounting and the external information to competitors. The linkage between the strategic position which decided by the companies and the anticipated emphasis on management accounting and lastly obtaining competitive advantage by interpreting methods to reduce costs or to boost the varieties of the companies goods by exploiting the relationship between the value chains and generalizing the cost drivers. In conclusion Strategic management accounting is recently developed in management accounting. It involved in planning, control and requires financial information. Nevertheless, SMA have not formed a unified knowledge. While some firms may have heard SMA. They may lack for a clear understanding in SMA. Although SMA has lots of different views from various authors. For example, Simmonds is the earliest to introduce the strategic management accounting. He mentions to collect information on business competitors. Than Bormwich has further information SMA is not only to collect information . It still need to Research and competitors on their own competitive advantage and value creation process and research a long-term decision-making cycle in the enterprise perspective, for the marketing of these products and services give enterprises the total revenue. In addition, Porter identified 3 generic strategies in SMA to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. .However ,Innes (1998) believe that strategic management accounting for the provision of information to support strategic decision-making and Cooper and Kaplan (1988) views that Strategic Accounting technology is designed to support the entire organizations competitive strategy to develop more sophisticated products and services costs . On the other hand, lord (1996) identified SMA not only analysis external competitor information but also extend the main point of traditional management accounting. They are all authors who hold different evidence to support their own mind in SMA, so SMA is totally confide, it is remains a mystery .,In my opinion, the main reason of SMA occurs because Economic is developing very fast and SMA is reclamation and atone for traditional management accounting in a new environment. However,SMA has many of obstacles in developing process such as enterprise keep continue to apply the SMA in the practical application and do adjustment and innovation , thereby it can promote the development of SMA application to make it update. So I believe that Although SMA lack of consistent theory at this moment , it will be a big management accounting develop in the future. Bibliographies: Bromwich, M. Through the eyes of a thirteen-year-old boy, Huckleberry Finn, Twain illustrates the controversy of racism and slavery during the aftermath of the Civil War. Since Huck is an adolescent, he is vulnerable and greatly influenced by the adults he meets during his coming of age. His expedition down the Mississippi steers him into the lives of a diverse group of inhabitants who have conflicting morals. Though he lacks valid morals, Huck demonstrates the potential of humanity as a pensive, sensitive individual rather than conforming to a repressive society. In these modes, the novel places Jim and Huck on pedestals where their views on morality, learning, and society are compared. Huckleberryââ¬â¢s first encounter with physical perplexity comes when he has woken up alone: ââ¬Å" I set up and looked around, a little scared. Then I rememberedâ⬠(Twain 240). Awaking from his accidental nap, he was stunned by the sudden realization that he did not know where he was. After gaining full awareness of his surroundings, he was once again calmed. Another illustration of Huckââ¬â¢s physical disorientation was when he was found in a ââ¬Å"solid white fogâ⬠(269). During his separation from Jim, Huck confessed that he ââ¬Å"hadnââ¬â¢t no more idea which way I was going than a dead manâ⬠(269). While he was still had not united with Jim, he suffers from another bout of confusion. ââ¬Å"First I didnââ¬â¢t know where I was; I thought I was dreamingâ⬠(270). This exemplifies how Huckââ¬â¢s mental disquietude melted into the physical realm. Throughout his voyage down the Mississippi, Huck has various arguments with Jim, which force him to question the facts that he has been taught from a white society. These serve as metaphors addressing different beliefs that are disputed amongst the rivaling races. Huck and Jim quarrel about ââ¬Å"King Sollermunâ⬠(Twain 266), who threatened to chop a baby in half. Jim debates that Solomon had so many children that he became incapable of valuing human life. Huck then defends what he believes to be ââ¬Å"de wisesââ¬â¢ man dat ever liveââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (266) by explaining to Jim that he has ââ¬Å"ââ¬Ëclean missed the pointââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (267). Huckââ¬â¢s subsequent comments relate Jimââ¬â¢s conclusion about Solomon and his view of white treatment of blacks as infinitely replaceable bodies. Instead of bickering, Huck ââ¬Å"went on talking about other kings, and let Solomon slideâ⬠(267). Linwood Bernalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15739314477112299289noreply@blogger.com0
